Counselling

We specialise in offering tailored support for neurodivergent individuals and families with neurodivergent children. We understand that the path of neurodiversity can be challenging, and it's not uncommon to experience burnout along the way. Our dedicated team of professionals is here to provide compassionate guidance and evidence-based strategies to help you or your family members cope with the unique stressors that neurodiversity can bring. We're committed to creating a safe and understanding space where you can find the support you need to thrive and find renewed strength on your journey.

We aim to facilitate self –knowledge, emotional acceptance and growth and the optimal development of personal resources on a one to one basis. We also assist participants to achieve their personal goals and gain greater insight into their lives.

Counsellors can support you in planning, achieving, and processing the experiences you view or feel. Counsellors can help you have a better quality of life. Many individuals are unaware that counsellors aren't just there to help you through a crisis related to your mental health. A skilled professional, a therapist can help you develop coping mechanisms, time management abilities, confidence, and reach your goals . Counselling is a capacity-building and capacity-enhancing therapeutic service that offers more than just emotional support.

NDIS Counselling

Axis provides counselling to individuals with a lived experience of mental health issues and psychosocial disability. This service fits into NDIS plans in the area of ‘Improved daily living’ under capacity building.

As counsellors, this means there is an opportunity to provide assistance to those who would not normally have access to counsellors. We support the delivery of high quality, person centred supports that are engaging, to help NDIS participants achieve their goals and aspirations.

How can counselling assist with your NDIS goals ?

+Emotional Support

Many people with disabilities face emotional and psychological challenges related to their condition. Counselling can provide a safe space to address these issues, helping individuals build resilience and cope with the emotional impact of their disability.

+Goal Setting

A counsellor can help individuals clarify their NDIS goals by exploring their desires, needs, and aspirations. This process ensures that the goals set are realistic, achievable, and in line with the individual's values and priorities.

+Motivation

A counsellor can provide motivation and hold individuals accountable for their goals. Regular counselling sessions can help track progress, identify barriers, and make adjustments to the goals as needed.

+Stress Management

Counselling can provide techniques and strategies to manage stress and reduce its impact on the individual's ability to work towards their NDIS goals..

+Interpersonal Skills

Counselling can help individuals with disabilities develop better communication skills, enhance relationships, and address any social challenges they may face.

+Advocacy

Counsellors can empower individuals with disabilities by helping them become self-advocates. This is important when dealing with service providers, navigating the NDIS system, and ensuring their goals are met.
