Behaviour Intervention Specialists

Axis provides therapeutic supports under capacity building ; counselling and social work line items.

We acknowledge the extensive waiting lists for Positive Behavior Support services within the NDIS. Therefore, we have structured our fees under the categories of social work and counselling. Drawing from our extensive experience as social workers, counsellors, and family practitioners, we expedite our engagement with families and individuals. Our goal is to promptly identify target behaviours and establish a support plan that ensures everyone's safety and enhances overall quality of life. We aim to have support plans and stratergies available to families after 3-5 sessions.

Behaviours of concern

Challenging behaviours are defined as unpredictable, complex behaviours that significantly impacts the individual's learning, development, safety, and relationships. Axis provides specialised therapeutic services for people with behaviours of concern (also known as challenging behaviour).

Our integrative team is compiled of family practitioner , psychotherapists intensive support works and social workers, provide innovative solutions for challenging behaviours. We prefer to offer outreach based support as we understand the barriers to clinical settings.

To understand behaviours of concern and working towards solutions we aim to do the following:

  • Understanding yourself and your surroundings

  • Recognising the causes/triggers of the behaviour

  • Finding beneficial, alternative approaches to address the same needs

  • Recognising the behaviour, what to do to stop it, and what might be helpful when the behaviour occurs

  • Anticipating potential issues and barriers

  • Collaborating on a strategies

  • Including relatives and carers

Secondary Consult and Reflective Practice

Axis currently provides secondary consult to families and care teams to individuals involved in the adult offending population.

Central to reading an individual’s NDIS goals is ensuring their care team, family and informal supports have an understanding of the above. We also recognise that there are huge waitlists for behaviour support so we can provide interim support with a therapeutic lens. We aim to :

  • Provide timely advice and devising effective intervention strategies for the individual, their family, their carers, and/or their service provider.

  • Identifying and addressing the recognised causes of dysfunctional behaviour in cases where there are behaviours of concern.

  • Provide empathetic and practical solutions for individuals and families who are experiencing acute crisis

Overall we want to provide a better quality of life to everyone involved.
